A Facile Approach of Thin Film Coating Consisted of Hydrophobic Titanium Dioxide over Polypropylene Membrane for Membrane Distillation

In this work, the hydrophobic modification of TiO2 nanoparticles (HTiO2) was carried out by reacting with dodecylphosphonic acid (DDPA) and hexylamine solution. A facile approach of the self-assembly technique was used for the coating of hydrophobic HTiO2 layer over the microporous polypropylene (PP) membrane. The self-assembled layer was formed between the interface of trimesoyl chloride (TMC)...

Effect of surface roughness on coating SiO2-P2O5-CaO-ZrO2 upon Zirconium by Sol-Gel Method

Zirconium and its alloys have many applications in orthopedic medicine and compared to stainless steel, titanium and other metals used in the manufacture of implants has higher strength and corrosion resistance. Research shows that the method of preparation and surface modification before coating process has a significant impact on improving the metal implants among which include the sandblasti...

A nanoscale metal alkoxide/oxide adhesion layer enables spatially controlled metallization of polymer surfaces.

Seeding polymer substrates for the attachment and growth of metallic contacts is an important problem in modern microcircuit fabrication. A new method to effect such polymer metallization is described in which the polymer is first treated with vapor of zirconium or titanium tetra-tert-butoxide and then thermalyzed to give several monolayers of zirconium or titanium oxides that are attached to t...

Artifacts of Titanium, Zirconium, and Binary Titanium-Zirconium Abutments in Compute Tomography, Cone Beam Computed Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Aim: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate imaging artifacts induced by Titanium, Zirconium, Titanium-Zirconium abutments in CT, MRI and CBCT imaging modalities. Methods: A 4×8mm titanium fixture was inserted in a dry human mandible. Titanium, Zirconium and Titanium–Zirconium abutments measuring 10.5 mm in height are located on the fixture, one by one. Each abutment was scan...

Microporous brookite-phase titania made by replication of a metal-organic framework.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) provide access to structures with nanoscale pores, the size and connectivity of which can be controlled by combining the appropriate metals and linkers. To date, there have been no reports of using MOFs as templates to make porous, crystalline metal oxides. Microporous titania replicas were made from the MOF template HKUST-1 by dehydration, infiltration with tita...
